Message For those of you curious, I had to trailer that thing up to Dallas because the Uhaul I was going to get had a lip that was too high for my Z to get over. I had to get my tools and track wheels up there so I borrowed a trailer hitch and dragged the mini uhaul trailer up there. Props go out to genic for helping my out by taking the trailer to Hallett. Not sure how heavy the trailer was but I was pretty much under positive boost pressure the entire time I towed it. It was only 1 or 2 psi but I'm sure it wasnt good for the turbos.

Anyway, I didnt do a writeup of the weekend so here goes. One thing for certain, it was a very eventful weekend. I packed up my stuff on Friday and drove out to Dallas with a buddy and crashed out at Michael(Dallas)'s place that night. The Hallett caravan met up Saturday afternoon and the drive to Hallett wasn't too bad. Took longer than I thought but there were no breakdowns or problems. Christy with the blue 350Z gave us a little worry, though, because she borrowed the truck from her grandfather who forgot to tell her the combination to the gas tank lock. Luckily she was finally able to get ahold of him and she was able to fill up. We rolled into Hallett and got unpacked, tires changed and took a slow lap around as a sneak preview before heading to the hotel to check in and have a dinner of BBQ ribs and what not. :)

It's funny but I have a hard time getting up for work at 7:30 in the morning but have no trouble at all getting up at 5:30 when it's car related. :) Anyway, the track proved to be pretty challenging at first but I got in the groove about the third session and started pulling down what I thought were decent lap times for a first timer at the track. Everything pretty much wound down, though, after the BMW wreck. We had another session to go but it didnt seem like anyone was too enthusiastic and just as well since we had a long drive ahead of us.

I'm glad I had a chance to check out the widely talked about Hallett and it is a pretty fun track. I got to explore the benefits of left foot braking and I think it's something I could get used to. My instructor after nixit was a VW New Beetle rally car driver and he used the technique to great effect. It may not have a ton of power but he would throw the car into the turns extremely quickly. I'll definitely be going out there again except next time I will have a tow car. Driving 1000 miles round trip in a Z with no interior panels in the back is quite uncomfortable.
